Fearless

Sometimes she talks
in a different way,
feels a kind of light.

A strange type
with such sights, such visions.
She looks at everything
with clear quiet eyes,
skirting the edge of abysses,
pushing through suspicions.

A fearless little figure.

A Splendid Summer

A splendid summer shone:
skies so pure;
suns so radiant.

A band of Italian days had come
like a flock of glorious passenger birds
and lighted to rest on the cliffs.
The fields were green and shorn;
hedge and wood, full-leafed.

Weary with gathering wild strawberries,
I sought the garden.

It was now the sweetest hour
and the sun had gone down
in simple state –
pure of pomp of clouds –
spread solemn purple,
burning red jewel
and furnace flame
extending high and wide,
over half heaven.

A rising solitary star
soon would boast the moon
yet beneath the horizon.

Different

Amusing –
everyone talks.
She is different.
What nonsense!
This is her way
she is alone
for herself.
Her clear quiet eyes
wide open
tearing
passionless
charmless.
A little figure –
rather striking.

The Concert

Bright light
plentiful mirrors
the long sweep of lace curtains.
Faces scattered
people.
She played a running melody.
Swollen fingers
worked
her wrists and hands
dizzily.
The room
seemed full of people;
stupid people who made her play.
She played
through trembling limbs
and burning eyes;
played and sung
hoping to discover the secret.
Nervous,
she laughed
and thrilled out
into the air –
the day before the tennis tournament.

They Are Great

Dog Rescue

However small
at first we reflect
with wonder
and astonishment.
We imagine
that each is
made up different.
They are great, good
and capable of feeling
pleasure and pain.
Every person ought to
avoid every kind of cruelty
to any creature –
great or small.

Life According to the Moon

The moon met us
and declared;
“the moonlight is beautiful
but you do not observe.
You ought to.
You are deprived.
Spend life
according to the moon”.

The Dream

There sings a dream.

Its beauty transcribes
the moment
the song
and secures a promise.

In a meadow on the banks of the river
it begins with a gathering.
It is a good song.
Sing.
